I pill delay periods for how many days
Patient's Query
Do ipill delay periods? How effective is an ipill tablet when taken between 48-72 hours? And for how long can they delay periods and when should I opt for a preg. Test? After sex, she got her periods after 3-4 days (for 3 days which is normal in her case) and they were painless this time with clots. Was that the withdrawal bleeding? It's been a month and 7 days since last that last bleeding and she hasn't got her periods yet. Is it a possible pregnancy? (p.s sex happened on the day she was supposed to get her periods)

Does ipill delay periods? Yes if taken properly as prescribed periods delay due to ipill. The effectiveness of the i-pill decreases the longer you wait to take it and taking it within 48-72 hours is the most effective time frame. If your concerned do a pregnancy test around 2-3 weeks after the date of the last unprotected intercourse. This will give the most accurate result.

Yes, taking an i-pill can cause a delay in periods by a few days. However, the effectiveness of i-pill decreases if taken after 72 hours of unprotected sex. It is recommended to take a pregnancy test after a week of missed periods to confirm or rule out pregnancy. The bleeding that your friend experienced for 3-4 days after taking i-pill is a common side effect.

Delayed menstrual period is definitely a side effect due to the use of emergency contraception, such as i-pill. It loses its power with time and is less effective one day to three days after engaging in unprotected sex. The fact that your partner started bleeding shortly after taking the pill could have been from withdrawal bleeding very different from a regular period. Since it’s already more than a month with no regular period, so pregnancy test needs to be taken for clarity. However, keep in mind that menstrual irregularities are common after taking emergency contraception and do not imply pregnancy.
