Diarrhea During Fasting: Break-Fast Diet Tips

Patient's Query

During intermittent fasting i have diarrhoea what should I eat when i break the fast

Answered by Dr. Samrat Jankar

Ah, seems diarrhea has interrupted your intermittent fasting schedule. Diarrhea is frequent bowel movements, often caused by fasting's effects on digestion. When ending your fast, opt for gentle foods like bananas, plain rice, or toast. These soothe the stomach. Hydrate extensively with lots of water. If diarrhea persists, seek medical advice.

I will be having gall bladder operation but because of high blood sugar my operation is being delayed...my general physician gave me insulin...thus my blood sugar level decreased however my sugar level again increased...so please can you recommend me a diet chart and other measures to be taken.

Male | 52

My advice would be to see a registered dietician, who could develop an individualized nutrition plan based on your needs and high blood sugar levels. Moreover, you should adhere to the doctor's directions about insulin dosage and timing as well as accurately measure your blood sugar level. In case of any doubts concerning your gall bladder surgery, consult a gastroenterologist

Hi I am a 21 year old female who has been travelling in Europe for 1 months. I have been having diarrhoea for the past week on and off and have been taking anti diarrhoea tablets. These block me up and cause stomach cramps. What would you recommend? Thank you

Female | 21

From what you've been saying, the diagnosis could be you having traveler's diarrhea, a typical thing when exposed to new places. Anti-diarrhea pills can make things worse by stopping your body from getting rid of the bad stuff that causes stomach cramps. It is best to replenish your fluids by drinking clean water and consuming sports drinks or oral rehydration solutions that contain electrolytes. Stick to the basics, bland foods like rice, bananas, and toast for a while until things settle down. If your symptoms persist, consult your physician for medical advice.

Can I eat onions and black pepper in h pylori

Male | 38

If you possess the H. pylori infection, some signs can be stomach aches, bloating, nausea etc. These symptoms are likely to get worse if you take onions or black pepper since they may irritate the lining of your stomach. It would therefore be advisable for one to temporarily keep off such foods until they undergo treatment for this condition. In order to reduce distress while being treated for H. pylori, it is recommended that you take a mild diet comprising foods that do not cause any harm to your stomach.

I have drunk alcohol after it I have vomiting blood but first vomiting it is normal but after it I have put finger and start vomiting so less quantity blood come out

Male | 21

Throwing up blood after drinking alcohol is a major indicator. There might be irritation or bleeding happening in your stomach. Putting your finger down your throat to make yourself puke will make things worse. You need to quit drinking booze right away and see a doctor. Don’t do anything else that will irritate your stomach more, and try to drink some water so you don’t get dehydrated.
