Your eye got hurt on the side. Signs of this are pain, red color, swelling, and blurry sight. Hitting or bumping near your eye can do this. Gently use something cold over it. Don't rub it. If pain stays or seeing issues don't go away, it's wise to go see an eye doctor.

Shadows
Flashes of light

A lump on eyelid or in eye that's increasing in size
Pain in or around eye, others.
