Hello. Roughly one month ago I purchased a home wart removal kit to remove what appeared to be a benign wart on the back of my knee. The nozzle on this device broke during use, spraying an area roughly two inches in diameter on my skin with dimethyl ether. This caused a small superficial frostbite/burn, but didn't take care of the wart so I used another kit afterwards which used a swab rather than a nozzle. After using both of these, the area blistered. This blister quickly popped and fell off on its own after just a day, leaving an area of incredibly raw and bloody skin. I applied neosporin to this area regularly and kept it clean allowing it to heal. It's been a month now and while this area isn't entirely healed, it has protective skin on it now. My issue here is the area has a blotchy dark coloration now, looking almost like bruising. This seems odd to me given that it's been a month now, should I be worried about this coloration? There is no pain at the site, though the skin there is quite thin and rough.

Answered by Dr. Manas N

Its natural to experience discoloration in skin especially after a blister or wound has occurred. color changes during the healing process. It could be due to hyperpigmentation which is the increased production of melanin in that area. This can result in a bruise-like appearance.

Stitches on web of hand have opened and now there is pus and earlier a large red mass on stiches

Male | 14

You may have an infection in the stitches on your hand. When pus comes out, it indicates that there is probably bacteria which is causing the infection. This might have occurred if the wound was not kept clean. If there was a large red lump previously, it could have been an abscess. It’s crucial to have this seen by medical professional because, without proper care, things like these can worsen.

Hi doc , there is some hyperpigmentation on my ear cocha , but it been a years I have that in both ears

Female | 27

Some common causes of ear discoloration can be excessive sunlight, hormone modifications, or genetic conditions. It would be wise to have an appointment with the dermatologist so that a careful evaluation and diagnosis can be done. Sunlight exposure and sunscreen should be good enough to give suitable treatment options like topical creams or laser therapy to lighten the pigmentation.

I am 18-year old female and i have been experiencing throat pain, there’s small oranges bumps on the back of my throat, it hurts to sallow and my throat just looks red and swollen is also small patches on my tonsils.

Female | 18

You could have tonsillitis, a condition in which your tonsils become infected. It may be uneasy for you if your throat is red, swollen, and has small orange bumps and patches. Tonsillitis can be caused by viruses or bacteria. In more detail, the patient should follow the three instructions: drinking a lot of non-alcoholic fluids, sleeping more, and using over-the-counter analgesic medication that your healthcare provider recommended. The practice of gargling warm salty water will definitely sooth the pain as well. By that time the infection has not subsided; it can mean that you should see a physician for more care.
