Spotting after emergency contraceptive pill

Patient's Query

I am taking unwanted 72 in 3rd January after one week I have spotting and it's continue to 6 days after this I have my period in 3 days here any chance of pregnancy??

Answered by Dr. Shweta Shah

No chances of pregnancy because after taking unwanted 72 what happens is, the spotting is result of withdrawal of the hormone progesterone present, that is called withdrawal bleeding after taking unwanted 72. You can also consult the best Gynecologist in Mumbai for further information.

It is an emergency contraceptive and has to be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex to help prevent pregnancy, and after taking unwanted 72 when bleeding will start.. it occurs as a side effect of the pill, and they do not necessarily indicate pregnancy. Some may experience blood clots after taking unwanted 72. And does unwanted 72 cause early periods or after how many days period comes after taking unwanted 72 will depend from woman to woman..

Answered by Dr. Swapna Chekuri

The spotting that occurred after taking Unwanted 72 in January could be a side effect of the emergency contraceptive pill. However, since you had your period after 6 days, the chances of pregnancy are unlikely. It is recommended to use regular contraception to avoid the need for emergency contraception.

72 Unwanted is an emergency contraceptive pill, and its usage can result in disruptions to your menstrual cycle like spotting irregular periods and flow. Perhaps, your symptoms may be attributed to side effects from the drug. However, emergency contraception is not 100 percent specific despite the fact that it works. if you are afraid of having a baby or your menstruation is not normal I would recommend doing pregnancy test and reaching out to the doctor.

What should I do about persistent vaginal infection symptoms, including itching and curd-like discharge, despite being on medication for over two weeks?

Female | 32

  • Avoid using perfumed soaps, gels, wipes or other feminine products.
  • Don’t douche or wash inside your vagina.
  • Avoid wearing tight underwear, leotards, bathing suits or sweaty clothes for long periods of time.
  • Wipe your vagina from front to back. This prevents bacteria from your rectum from getting into your vagina.

Had unprotected non penetrative sex (wearing underwear) on day 8 of menstrual cycle. Started vaginal bleeding that lasts only few minutes on day 17 and day 19 (12-10 days before periods) (Did not happen on day 18). First bleeding started with red color then started spotting brown. Confused whether it's spotting before periods or implantation bleeding.

Female | 20

It is impossible to know whether the bleeding occurred because of premenstrual spotting or implantation blood without a physical examination. To get a clear idea, plz visist a gynecologist

Iam 35 years old female n I was wondering how did I get Cervical cancer

Female | 35

The problem of cervical cancer is caused when the cells in the cervix get as a matter of fact, out of hand. The primary connection is through the HPV virus, which is transmitted during sexual activities. Some non-specific symptoms may also be there including the following: bleeding from the unusual site the woman has never experienced before, pain during sex, and pelvic pain. The use of Pap smears and HPV vaccines is one of the ways to minimize the risk of cervical cancer. This may happen to the p. by surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy.

I slept with my boyfriend and he released inside of me few hours ago, and I didn't take any contraptive pills, but if I take postinor 2 tomorrow, would it work?

Female | 22

Taking Postinor 2 several hours after unprotected sex may lower the probability of getting pregnant. But, it is not a safe method of birth control and may lead to side effects. It is recommended that you go to a gynecologist for proper guidance and advice on your situation as soon as possible.

You should go to a gynecologist for careful evaluation and proper advice on the contraceptive method that will suit you. The improper use of any medication may cause your health to deteriorate and suffer.
