Can my AST/ALT ratio change while I am drunk?

Patient's Query

I have ast/alt ratio of 1.77 but the time my blood was examined I was drunken much. Can you guide me its still same even I am drunk or not. It was ast 339 and alt 191. Kindly help

Answered by Dr. Samrat Jankar

The report based on an AST/ALT ratio test result shows a liver enzyme ratio of 1.77 units which is slightly higher than normal and indicates the presence of possible factors e.g. liver damage, drinking alcohol, taking certain drugs. Elevated AST and ALT levels may alert the liver damage. You can ascertain the precise state of your liver by retesting your blood after you get sober and getting the necessary advice from a hepatologist.

I will be having gall bladder operation but because of high blood sugar my operation is being delayed...my general physician gave me insulin...thus my blood sugar level decreased however my sugar level again increased...so please can you recommend me a diet chart and other measures to be taken.

Male | 52

My advice would be to see a registered dietician, who could develop an individualized nutrition plan based on your needs and high blood sugar levels. Moreover, you should adhere to the doctor's directions about insulin dosage and timing as well as accurately measure your blood sugar level. In case of any doubts concerning your gall bladder surgery, consult a gastroenterologist

Hello I am 13, and I have been suffering from acid reflux for about a month. I have talked to 2 doctors. I have been prescribed pepcid about 2 weeks ago. So my 2 week trial is over. But still I suffer from it. All pepcid was able to do is ease the symptoms a bit. How do I ease my anxiety and get rid of this illness forever?

Male | 13

Acid reflux can be caused by stress and anxiety, as well as dietary and lifestyle choices. You can manage stress and anxiety through relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, yoga, or meditation. If your symptoms persist despite medication and lifestyle changes, your doctor can recommend additional testing or referral to a specialist.

According to your symptoms you may have a gastrointestinal problem. For effective diagnosis and management, you need to see a gastroenterologist. They can recommend some tests that are required for the diagnosis of the cause of your stomach ache and the bowel movements that are frequent. For the time being, please limit yourself to eating non outdoor meals and consume food that is easy digestible.

My mom found out she has a big cyst in her stomach. Attached to her belly button. I want to know if the surgery to remove it is risky.?

Female | 67

The cyst can often bring pain and discomfort. They are due to the blocking of the glands or infections. Although cyst removal is generally quite safe, some risks are part of all surgeries. Her physician has to explain the pros and cons to your mom, so that she can make a well-informed decision about what is best for her health.

Im wondering if Ulcerative Colitis can affect a man's sexual ability causing ED. Either that or is it possible for UC to cause low testosterone? Is this possible without me taking any medications?

Male | 28

A situation that inflames the colon, ulcerative colitis, can result in symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fatigue. Even though inflammation and stress brought on by UC do not cause directly erectile dysfunction (ED) or low testosterone; they can have an impact on sexual health. The best way forward is to treat UC effectively while also finding ways of reducing stress.

I am suffering from constipation since 1 week

Male | 25

The condition indicates difficulty with bowel movements. It could happen if you don't eat enough fiber, do not have enough water, and do not have enough physical activity. Symptoms are abdominal fullness, dry, hard stools, and sluggish bowel movements. Please, consider advice like incorporating fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates into your diet to relieve the symptoms. Daily physical activity and increased intake of water will facilitate the process as well.
