I have psoriasis in the same finger of both the hands. I have tried several treatments but it is not getting any better. How to deal with this?

Answered by Dr. Anju Methil

Psoriasis can be a chronic skin condition that require ongoing treatment. If you have tried several treatments without success, then discuss with a dermat to determine appropriate treatment plan for your condition. Medications, phototherapy, or biologic treatments are few options. Moreover you can try to avoide stress, smoking, and alcohol, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Female | 18

Cystic acne at the age 0f 18 years indicates underlying hormonal cause like PCOS, insulin resistance etc. this can be evaluated by certain blood tests and scans. Please consult an experienced dermatologist for the same. Intra lesional triamcinolone injections, oral retinoids, oral contraceptive pills,  etc may be recommended once the cause is established by the Dermatologist. Pimples appearing on face which is best gel clindamycin phosphate gel with benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin phosphate gel with niacinamide??

Female | 21

Pimples can be annoying, but there are solutions to help. These spots come from blocked pores and germs. A gel with clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide can kill bacteria and reduce swelling. Alternatively, clindamycin phosphate with niacinamide may be better for redness and irritation. Both options work well, so you should pick the one best for your skin type. Not sure which to try? Start with one, then switch if it doesn't help.

I have oily skin and acne marks and acne on my forehead And my face , brown spot in my face

Female | 27

You may have a combination of shiny skin, hyperpigmentation, pimples on your forehead, and spots on your cheeks. Overactive oil glands are a magnet for pimples which consecutively leave dark marks. Stress, hormones, and your diet could all contribute to making it severe. Tanning or irritating your skin might be responsible for brown spots. To fix your issue, gently clean it every day using cleansing products; you can get some over-the-counter drugs meant for treating acne then apply them as instructed, and protect it against the sun by wearing sunscreen all the time.

I have acne problem. My dermatologist suggested me Acnilite soap but now it's not available. So please suggest me alternative to that

Female | 21

Acne is common, causing pimples and oily skin. Hair follicles get blocked with oil and dead skin cells. You can try soap with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients unplug pores and reduce acne. Gently wash your face, avoid harsh scrubbing.

Can I use bleach on face if I am under treatment for verrucca plana?

Female | 21

Don't put bleach on your face if you have verruca plana. That skin issue happens when a virus infects your cells. It creates odd growths. Harsh bleach irritates skin more, making problems severe. Follow your doctor's advice precisely. Treat your skin gently and patiently.

Sir, I am 23 year old. I don't have beard. I barely have any hair under my chin. Please help me with my beard growth.

Male | 23

The dermatologist will first need your family history and trichoscopy examination for the evidence of vellus hairs. Then they might begin their treatment with minoxidil, micro-needling and Growth factor injections. If no improvement is seen however, then they will suggest hair transplant.

I have oily skin and acne problem. The problem is that scars are not removed completely. Some are getting light but not removed completely. I recently heard about microdermabrasion for acne scars from one of my friends. Does it really work? I am 23 now. Does it have any side effects?

Female | 23

If you have oily skin and acne problem, sometimes if acne is severe they might burst or get infected or if you pick your acne too much they might result into scars. As per Dermatologist there are 5 types of scars which are commonly encountered.
1. Ice Picks Scars: Very small in surface but deep and narrow below.
2. Roll-Over Scars: Wide but borders are difficult to appreciate
3. Box-car Scars: wide and borders can be easily appreciated.
4. Open pores like Scars: Small Ice Pick Scars
5. Hyper-trophic Scars:
so the treatment for the scars depends upon the type of scars. Commonly treatment which are effective are TCA cross, subsition treatment, microneedling, microneedling radiofrequency, PRP treatment, CO2 Laser, RBM Glass laser and even dermal fillers.
As you are 23 and you are asking about microdermabrasion, it removes superficial skin layers and it is effective only for superficial scars which are not very deep. This might require you multiple sessions like 8-10 sessions for it to work. Instead of Microdermabrasion you can go for microneedling, microneedling radiofrequency which will require less number of sessions and on top of it you can add PRP to it.

I am a 22 year old female, my breasts have become more pale and sensitive as of late, and am unsure why.

Female | 22

Breasts changing color and feeling more sensitive is common. This could happen due to hormones, irritated skin, or blood flow changes. Look for other issues like pain or lumps too. If changes last or worry you, talk to a doctor for a checkup.
