Why Do I Have Difficulty with Number and Text Perception

Patient's Query

I misread numbers a lot, for example I had to do an essay of 2000 words I clearly saw 2000 but days later I heard it was 1000 and I went to check it again and it was seriously 1000. And whenever I see on my laptop huge paragraphs all over my screen, my eyes feel weird like I cant focus or something. Is it normal?

Answered by Dr. Gurneet Sawhney

You could have an eye issue called asthenopia. It happens when your eyes get tired from reading words or screens for too long. Some reasons are looking at screens for hours or using the wrong glasses. To help, take breaks often, adjust the lighting, and maybe get an eye exam for new glasses.

The causes of these types of headaches are lack of adequate sleep, stress, dehydration, or even certain foods. To ease the pain, you may make sure you drink enough water, have proper sleep, do not allow stress to take over, and stay away from trigger foods. If the symptoms persist, it is good to visit a doctor

You should visit a neurologist right away. Such complaints may suggest a neurological disorder that calls for the services of a specialist to be managed. Make no delay in getting proper medical help because the sooner the diagnosis is made the better the outcome will be.

my mother is 82 years and diabetic .mri result says 1)multiple small T2W/FLAIR hyperintense foci noted in bilateral frontal and parietal periventricular and sub cortical regions-chronic small vessel ischemic changes 2) Diffuse cerebral atrophy doctor suggested procedure to remove water from spine your suggestion pl

Male | 59

I recommend that she should visit a neurologist. In MRI, the T2W/FLAIR images exhibited multiple small white matter hyperintensities in the bilateral frontal and parietal periventricular and subcortical areas. They suggest chronic small vessel ischemic change. Spinal tap water removal may not be the recommended treatment for her symptoms.

Hi sir/madam, I'm Suffering from right eye swelling, redness from past 25 days... recently I have visited a hospital and got my cerebral Angiogram test done...it was found that there is Dural arterveinous fistulae along bilateral cavernous sinuses nd clivus draining into bilateral petrosal sinuses and right superior opthalmic vein...which is causing swelling of eye, redness, watery eyes...They have suggested an exercise near neck(compression) for this problem. my question is does this problem go away with this exercise? How common is this problem?Any medical emergency required? What is the cost for stereographic radiation therapy? Thank you.

Male | 52

The answer to your question depends on the cause of the dural arteriovenous fistulae. If it is caused by a congenital abnormality, exercise may help reduce the symptoms, but it is unlikely to completely resolve the condition. If the cause is a tumor or an aneurysm, then exercise may help reduce the symptoms, but a more comprehensive treatment plan may be required. The cost of stereotactic radiation therapy varies depending on the institution providing the therapy. It is best to seek advice from a specialist to determine the best course of treatment.

I am 46 year old man. I have little fever since days and headache with feeling head like heavyness. I do also vomit with loose motions before 4-5 days and have many anxiety also..

Male | 46

Symptoms such as fever, headache, throwing up, diarrhea, and nervousness could point towards a stomach bug or food poisoning. These might also leave you feeling light-headed or generally unwell. Make sure to drink enough water, get plenty of rest, and stick with bland foods if this is what you’re going through. If your condition doesn’t improve or gets worse than before, please see a doctor so they can examine you properly and give appropriate treatment options.

I have a headache especially temples crushing headache at night

Female | 26

You’re dealing with some pretty intense headaches, especially in or around your temples at night. There are a few reasons why this might be happening. One possibility is that it’s caused by stress, not getting enough sleep, or too much screen time – which can strain your eyes. Drinking plenty of water and trying to relax before bed could help make it hurt less. If this keeps going on though, talking to a doctor would be a good next step.
