Why is my son's nipple red and inverted?

Patient's Query

My 14 month old son developed a red nipple last Saturday. Since then the redness has gone down. However still a noticable difference from the other nipple. It is also going inverted and coming back out. He was not born with inverted nipples.

Answered by Dr. Babita Goel

It is great that differences have been spotted in your son's nipple. This could be due to moments of redness and inversions whenever irritations or infections set in. It is quite necessary to stick around. If the condition persists or grows more severe, the best alternative would be to seek further evaluation and advice from a pediatrician.

the patient in hospital is a young girl and doctor wants to take her C.T. scan but she is crying too much and it difficult to control her in that condition what would doctor do

Female | 6

Crying is normal when frightened. To make the girl calmer, speak softly, give comfort, and explain the scans like taking a picture inside her body. Ask her parent to hold her hand or be close while it happens. This might help her feel safer. Giving her a favorite toy or music could also distract her from the scan's happenings.

These symptoms can be pretty rough for a kid her age. There are a few possible reasons: stress, not enough sleep, or something in her diet. My advice is to take her to see a pediatric neurologist for the headaches, plus a counselor. Getting help from both might be useful.

I have a 1 year old with RSV and her oxygen level is siting at 91% should I be concerned. It dropped to 87% for a split second then shot back up to 91%. She is breathing 26 breathes per minute.

Female | 1

A 91% oxygen level is slightly low for a one-year-old with RSV. This virus makes breathing harder for babies. The dropping oxygen shows her lungs are struggling. Watch her closely to ensure she's comfortable. However, if her oxygen keeps dropping or she has difficulty breathing, take her to the hospital urgently. Ensure she drinks lots of fluids and rests.

foaming while sleeping for my 3 year old

Female | 3

Foaming during slumber for a 3-year-old could stem from excess drooling. This occurrence is typical as teeth develop. At times, it may resemble foam. It doesn't usually signify a severe issue. Ensuring your child's head is slightly elevated while resting might alleviate the situation. Additionally, utilizing a soft pillowcase may absorb the drool. However, if your child exhibits breathing difficulties or persistent coughing, seeking medical attention is advisable.
