Questions & Answers on "Thyroid Surgery" (185)

I did two hba1c tests last month. On one day, my hba1c is 7.9 and the other day it's 6.9. I don't know which one to believe. So I did fbs and ppbs 2 weeks ago. My fbs was 82 and ppbs was 103 I also used medication, and was on a strict diet and exercise from last month. Now I have stopped using medicine. I weighed 107 kgs last month. Now I have lost 6 kgs Am I diabetic? Please answer

It's great that your blood sugar levels are getting better with lifestyle changes. HbA1c test measures the average blood sugar for 2-3 months so, a 6.9 result may be more accurate. Weight loss, exercise, diet changes, and stopping the medicines are all the ones that are working in your case. Make a habit of checking your blood sugar levels regularly and don't let it damage your health.

Hi, I know there is a very slim chance that you will respond. But can I ask you a question; I have hasimotos (diagnosed 7 years ago). I function the best when my tsh level is around 0.8. I had a bloodtest 7 weeks ago and out of nowhere my tsh level was 2.9, I was also very tired etc. So my doctor and i decided to up my medication from 100mcg to 112 mcg. however the last 4 weeks ive been gaining weight like crazy. Atleast 3,5 kg.I also have a lot of energy, unstoppable hunger and feel very aggatated. I did another blood test and my tsh level is now 0,25.

Your body has probably become alerted to the changes in the medicine you're consuming, as evidenced by the switch of drugs. A sudden drop in your TSH may cause you to have symptoms such as a feeling that your energy has escalated, increased appetites, and weight gain. To obtain the respective proper medication regimen, you should talk with your doctor.

Not feeling hungry impacts weight gain. Many causes exist: stress, bad eating habits, medical problems. Insufficient food impairs growth. Try small, frequent meals, nutritious foods, less stress. Continuing issues warrant doctor consultation to determine root factors.

Feeling constant weakness, fatigue, and loss of appetite could be signs of an underlying health issue, such as anemia or a thyroid problem. It is important to consult a general physician or an internist who can diagnose and treat your condition properly.
