Pain in the arm pit can be due to many reasons, infections and breast pathologies being most common. Hormonal changes are also associated with some pain in the arm pit areas. Cancer is tough, but there's hope. Please let the doctor know if she feels worse even after treatment. Some symptoms such as coughing, pain, or feeling weak are of multiple possibilities. The doctor possibly has to ascertain if the cancer has recurred or if there is another problem. Waiting is not a good choice especially when you tell them how your mother is doing.

Hello Sir, I am from Ludhiana. My masi had gone through breast cancer operation and chemotherapy quite a few years (7 years) back from Apollo hospital, Chennai. Since then she often falls sick (feels weak, drowsy throughout the day, bad taste) all of a sudden once in 4-6 months and then again normal. We did many tests but nothing was diagnosed and there was no sign of cancer. We want to know if it is an after effect of chemotherapy and guide how to go through with this. She is now 56.

Yes some side effects of chemotherapy following breast surgery are weakness, drowsiness and altered taste. Proper nutrition and sufficient fluid intake is of utmost importance. You need to visit oncologist for any medication for that will help her in minimizing the side effects.
