Is Severe Bruising After Ingrown Toenail Removal Normal?

Patient's Query

hello i had a infected ingrown toenail removed yesterday afternoon and it’s bruising really bad from the numbing shots and is very sore is that a concern of a infection or

Answered by Dr. Ishmeet Kaur

Swelling, pain, and discoloration in the toe are normal after the ingrowing toenail is removed because of the bruising. It may be from the shots that removed the sensation in the area. Don't worry; if it's been a day since the procedure, the formation of a bruise is common. Temperature, severe pain, redness of skin, or the presence of any pus are signs of infection. Follow the recommendations for keeping the region spotless, raising your foot, and taking painkillers. If you think you set out signs of infection, contact a dermatologist.

Meri skin bhut dullness ho gyi mam main kya kru Kon sa treatment best hoga Mam kaise skin ko glow kru

Female | 26

Your skin has lost its radiance. Dullness occurs when your body lacks hydration, rest, or nutrients. Increasing water intake, getting proper sleep, and consuming fruits and vegetables can revive your glow. Additionally, gentle exfoliation removes dead cells, uncovering renewed skin underneath. Don't neglect sun protection; use sunscreen.

I have (in the last 24 hours) developed unusual blisters on my hands, fingers, nose, and cheek. Two mornings ago I woke up with a fever and chills (it has since subsided) and took Advil to help, but after two rounds of taking it, I noticed the bottle was a few years expired--perhaps this is related?

Male | 23

In the past 24 hours, if you have developed strange blisters around your hands, fingers cheek and nose then it is necessary to see a dermatologist. However, even if the expired Advil has no connection to the blisters, it is still essential never to take any medication after its expiration date. Seek specialized medical care in case your condition does not improve.

I had toenail torn off now a little black dot on skin toe is painful

Female | 50

It is very common to see these symptoms if you have undergone an episode of toenails being torn off. This is generally due to subungual haematoma. The foot infection can be prevented by visiting a podiatrist or a specialist for treatment.

I have oily skin and acne problem. The problem is that scars are not removed completely. Some are getting light but not removed completely. I recently heard about microdermabrasion for acne scars from one of my friends. Does it really work? I am 23 now. Does it have any side effects?

Female | 23

If you have oily skin and acne problem, sometimes if acne is severe they might burst or get infected or if you pick your acne too much they might result into scars. As per Dermatologist there are 5 types of scars which are commonly encountered.
1. Ice Picks Scars: Very small in surface but deep and narrow below.
2. Roll-Over Scars: Wide but borders are difficult to appreciate
3. Box-car Scars: wide and borders can be easily appreciated.
4. Open pores like Scars: Small Ice Pick Scars
5. Hyper-trophic Scars:
so the treatment for the scars depends upon the type of scars. Commonly treatment which are effective are TCA cross, subsition treatment, microneedling, microneedling radiofrequency, PRP treatment, CO2 Laser, RBM Glass laser and even dermal fillers.
As you are 23 and you are asking about microdermabrasion, it removes superficial skin layers and it is effective only for superficial scars which are not very deep. This might require you multiple sessions like 8-10 sessions for it to work. Instead of Microdermabrasion you can go for microneedling, microneedling radiofrequency which will require less number of sessions and on top of it you can add PRP to it.

I took out my infected medusa piercing thinking that would be for the best but turns out its not. What do I do?

Female | 23

infected piercings are common, removing jewelry may cause ABSCESS FORMATION.. Clean the area gently with SALINE WATER and apply an antibiotic cream.. Keep it dry and avoid touching it with dirty hands.. Do not reinsert the jewelry until COMPLETELY HEALED.. Seek medical help if symptoms worsen..
