I am suffering from vitiligo. Is it curable. I am presently leaving in oman

Answered by Samruddhi Bhartiya

This condition is not curable, treatment for it however, may either restore color to the affected skin, or slow down loss of color due to this condition. Medications and certain light-based therapies can help restore skin color or even out skin tone, but the results vary and are unpredictable, they may have serious side effects as well keeping your condition in mind. Doctors generally suggest tanning or makeup. If your doctor decides to treat you with a drug, surgery or therapy, the process may take many months to start showing results. Even if treatment is successful, the results wont last long as new patches will reappear. Your doctor might recommend applying a medication to the skin to help prevent relapse. My roommate has said she had a cold sore for the last two days. And I’m a bit worried. She gave me a piece of food that she bit off of and offered me and also a drink (I didn’t drink off the straw, rather just our the cup) I’m a bit nervous, I’m not sure if she had an outbreak during those times but it was about two / three days ago. Could herpes be spread in that way? (I definitely could be uneducated but just a bit nervous)

Female | 20

Cold sores result from the herpes simplex virus spread by close contact such as kissing or sharing eating utensils. Nonetheless, passing herpes through sharing food or drinks is very unlikely. Signs may commence with a tingling sensation and itching feeling then develop into blisters on the lips or around the mouth. To avoid contracting herpes simplex virus, refrain from sharing cutlery and glasses besides washing hands often.

I has a problem in my skin. It is soft and week how to solve it.

Male | 18

Soft and weak skin can signal the presence of multiple diseases such as Vitamin deficiencies and connective tissue disorders. I suggest you pay a visit to a good dermatologist who will examine your skin and conduct tests to come up with a diagnosis of the underlying cause. From the diagnosis, the dermatologist can propose suitable treatment to increase the health of your skin.

Black vertical line on the right thumb of 2 yrs old boy. Line is growing as nail grows. It started in sept 2020 and by Feb line covered full nail. No nail trauma or any history of such line in family.

Male | 2

It is possible that the black vertical line on the boy's thumb nail is a result of a melanonychia striata, which is a linear nail melanin pigmentation. It is relatively common in children and is generally harmless. However, it is important to have it evaluated by a doctor, especially if it is growing, to rule out any underlying medical conditions.

The signs you are experiencing e.g. Redness, itching, and rashes may be due to various reasons. This could be because of your allergies, stress, weather changes, or some products that could be irritants to your skin. To solve this, you can use gentle skincare products, stop the triggers you might think are causing the issue, and regularly wash and hydrate your skin.

Hi I am 25 year old I have a scar on right cheek due to pimple, the pimple has gone but it left with a scar

Male | 25

You suffered from a pimple on your cheek that is currently a scar, which is very common. The skin may leave a mark after the healing of a pimple. Whenever skin tries to fix itself these scars form. To make the spot where it is blended with your natural complexion, use remedies such as lotions containing retinol or vitamin C.

Sir, I am 23 year old. I don't have beard. I barely have any hair under my chin. Please help me with my beard growth.

Male | 23

The dermatologist will first need your family history and trichoscopy examination for the evidence of vellus hairs. Then they might begin their treatment with minoxidil, micro-needling and Growth factor injections. If no improvement is seen however, then they will suggest hair transplant.
