Why Am I Experiencing Food Poisoning?

Patient's Query

I have food poisoning PLS help

Answered by Dr. Samrat Jankar

Tummy aches, throwing up, and frequent bathroom trips are common signs of food poisoning. The key is staying hydrated; drink lots of water or rehydration drinks. Stick to simple eats like crackers or rice for now. Give your body a break and avoid spicy, greasy, or dairy items. If symptoms don't improve or get worse, see a gastroenterologist right away.

But since last 4 days he is complaining of stomach ache and going to.potty each time. The stool is normal and soft as compared to previous times and flushable. Please suggest.

Male | 8

I advise you to take your child to a doctor. Based on proper evaluation and diagnosis, the doctor will be able to determine whether the problem faced is due some underlying medical issue such as food intolerance, infection  or some other reason. Based on that, treatment may be suggested which may include certain dietary and lifestyle changes, medications etc.

I have a symptomatic gallstone from previous 20 years and my gall bladder also distended but no symptoms is showing what should I do ...

Female | 52

It looks like you’ve had a gallstone for a while now, and it has made your gallbladder stretch. Normally, gallstones bring pain, nausea, and yellowing of your skin. If you don’t have any symptoms, you might not need immediate treatment. You should have a nutritious diet and visit your doctor for regular check-ups.

I (Age 22, male) eat junk food(a sandwich or a roll) every Wednesday. I also eat puri sagu (south indian food - about 7 in quantity) every Sunday. It is not exactly junk food. Is this a bad habit? Should I reduce it? Or is it not a problem?

Male | 22

You're wise to think about eating habits. Weekly sandwiches and rolls aren't ideal. Too much junk food causes weight gain, high cholesterol, and heart issues. Balance meals with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Swap some junk food for healthier choices.

I was wondering what to do about my medical situation: I’ve been experiencing few weeks: -Anal discomfort from constipation -bowel leakage - anal itchiness for a due to Background: I had a loop colostomy put in the descending colon but what it seems To me is that some stool bypassed the colostomy and got to the area in the rectum that is damaged, and so its just staying inside the rectum, I can’t seem to have a bowel movement because of the damage in that area and I can’t seem to get it out. because of having the colostomy, I know there isn’t a serious problem like a blockage. but I’m feeling really uncomfortable due to the the leakages and itchiness at the anal area. From past experience Enemas and laxatives and suppositories haven’t been helpful with my constipation. What can I do?

Female | 27

It seems that you have encountered some abnormal complications related to your colostomy or you are constipated. Your anal discomfort and the smell and itchiness are occurring due to the feces that have collected in the damaged area in your rectum. That can occur when the stool makes an unplanned detour. In view of the fact that classical treatments such as enemas and laxatives are of no help; it is time to speak to your care provider for other possible options, like diet modification, stool softeners, or special procedures.
