Can jaundice in a 6-month-old lead to liver failure?

Patient's Query

My 6 months baby is suffering from jaundice since 4 months and it's leads to liver failure. Can this problem solves.....??

Answered by Dr. Babita Goel

Jaundice in babies can occur when their liver is not working properly. This makes their skin and eyes turn yellow. Sometimes it may cause serious liver failure. You need to take your baby to a hepatologist for proper treatment. The physician may prescribe drugs, suggest changes in diet, or severe cases recommend liver transplantation. Ensure you adhere to what the doctor tells you to help your child feel better.

I doubt my baby swallowed a piece of glass

Male | 1

Glass in the mouth is a serious thing. You need to watch your baby closely. Glass can scratch or cut their insides. Look for choking, drooling, and discomfort. If their tummy hurts or they have trouble breathing, that's not good. Take them to see a doctor right away in these cases.

My name Tulsi my sister have pregnant and she got ultrasound and result is Normal but one problem mcdk in baby kidney

Female | 28

The doctor saw in an ultrasound that it had a Multicystic Dysplastic Kidney (MCDK). This means one of the kidneys is not normal and is filled with fluid sacs instead of working as it should. Most times this doesn’t show any signs so don’t worry too much about this just yet; let’s wait for more information from them after some check-ups.

Female | 6

Crying is normal when frightened. To make the girl calmer, speak softly, give comfort, and explain the scans like taking a picture inside her body. Ask her parent to hold her hand or be close while it happens. This might help her feel safer. Giving her a favorite toy or music could also distract her from the scan's happenings.

You need to observe baby for 24-48 hours as some symptoms can develop later. It would be advisable to get baby examined by pediatrician.

My kid is 3yrs old still not talking

Female | 3

Some children take time to develop speaking skills. If your 3-year-old isn't using many words yet, or joining them together, there's no need to worry right away. However, it's wise to have their hearing checked. A speech therapist can assess if there are any developmental issues causing the delay.

I AM YEAR OLD GIRL. MY WEIGHT IS 17.9 KG AND MY HEIGHT IS 121 CM. MY HEIGHT AND WEIGHT NOT GROWING WELL AS WELL AS I DO NOT HAVE SO MUCH HUNGRY. I FEEL TO SLEEPY AT 8 P.M EVERYDAY SO I CAN NOT CONTINUE MY STUDY AT NIGHT.

Female | 9

My concern is coming from the fact that you get tired quite early, say at 8 p.m., have no appetite at all, and seem to have stopped adding weight and becoming taller. These signs could be caused by things like lack of proper nutrients or a sickness. Therefore, you should share this information with a responsible grown-up – maybe a family member or your teacher – so that they assist you in getting medical attention. A doctor will examine you to find out what is wrong and give you the necessary treatment.

I have a 7-year-old daughter who has been evaluated for autism, noting that she does not have much autism, but she suffers from a real delay in speech (conversation), but she can ask sometimes, and listen to commands while accepting or rejecting them sometimes.

Female | 7

Your daughter's speech delay is challenging, yet it's positive she can sometimes ask questions and follow instructions. Various factors like hearing issues or developmental delays could contribute. Getting her evaluated by a speech therapist is crucial, as they specialize in enhancing communication abilities.
