What happens when your Achilles tendon snaps?

You might hear a pop when your Achilles tendon snaps. The pop is followed by an immediate pain in your lower leg or the back of your ankle. The pain might even make you unable to walk. Doctors often perform surgeries to repair torn tendons but for many, nonsurgical treatment works just as well.

after jaw surgery when can i chew?

After 5 weeks of jaw surgery you can slowly but steadily begin to chew.

Given below is a timeline of the consistency & texture that your food can have at different stages of your recovery period.

  • For 1 to 2 weeks after surgery: you should sustain yourself on only liquid diet.
  • After 3 to 4 weeks of surgery: you can eat soft food which doesn't requires chewing. Dishes such as mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and boiled/soft pastas, etc
  • After 5 to 6 weeks of surgery: you can have soft chewable foods.
  • After 3 to 4 months of surgery: you can resume normal eating no matter how crunchy, hard or chewable your foods are.

Talk to your surgeon right away if you have any uncertainties.
