Hello, I have been diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma in mouth. Please suggest the best possible treatment.

Squamous cells is a thin, flat cells lining inside of the lips and oral cavity. The Cancer that grows in this cell is called squamous cell carcinomas. Squamous cell carcinoma usually develops in areas of leukoplakia (white patches of cells that do not rub off). Treatment options for squamous cell carcinoma depends on the stage of cancer, size of tumor and location of the cancer (where it is in the lip or oral cavity), also whether the patient's appearance and ability to talk and eat can stay the same, as well as their age and general health. Patients with lip and oral cavity cancer should have their treatment planned by a team of doctors who are expert in treating head and neck cancer. Two types of standard treatment are used: Surgery, Radiation therapy. Consult Oncologists in Mumbai, or in any other city.

Hello Sachin, Treatment for oral cancer (mouth cancer) or any other cancer normally depends on the type, location, and stage of the cancer, age of patient and patient's general condition when diagnosed.

Oral cancer treatment includes:

surgery in early stages,
Radiation therapy,
Chemotherapy.
Treatment for advanced stages will usually involve a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Targeted therapy can be effective in both early and advanced stages of cancer.

In your case, depending of stage of cancer or if it is recurring, the clinician will decide about the line of treatment. Very important is nutrition of patient as eating will be a concern during and after treatment for some time. Hygiene of mouth is also very important and not to be missed. In case of advanced oral cancer, the patient may need reconstructive surgery and some rehabilitation to assist with eating and speaking during recovery. Speech therapist, nutritionist will be needed. Sir, I am a 30 yrs old Indian Army soldier presently treated in Pune Command Hospital and have stomach cancer. I had gone through Laprotomy operation (found GIST of High Grade in Histopath) on 30 Nov 2018 and post op PET scan revealed certain other tumours in 1 segment of liver, multiple mesentric lymph nodes in Stomach after which I would be on chemotherapy treatment IMATINIB from 3 Jan 2019 for the same. But on 28 Jan 19 there was found Ascities (No Malignancy)for which the next CECT on 4 feb shows the disease progression even after the running drugs. Plz suggest the best treatment with your valuable opinion. Suggest any hospitals in Pune/ Mumbai.

I am writing for my father's treatment. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in April 2018. He had gone through 6 cycles of of Alimta and carboplatin till October and then two cylces of Alimta only till December 2018. Up to October, he was doing great, had no side effects and his tumor size went down. After that he became very fatigued and also his tumor size increased significantly. In January 2019, Doctor put him on Docetaxel and so far he is doing good with no side effect. But, we would like to continue his treatment in your reputed hospital. I have attached his initial PET scan (April 2018) and recent PET scan (January 2019) along with few other CT scan. I appreciate if you could suggest me the doctor for his treatment and help me getting the appointments. Also, it would be very helpful if you can give me idea about the expenses. Since he will be coming from Bangladesh, it will take time to get visa and arrange rest of the stuff. Currently I am in Canada and planning to join him during his initial treatment at your hospital, preferably in March.

He will have to consult medical oncologist to make a treatment plan. everything will have to be looked into in detail before advising a plan. I suggest you to continue Docetaxel until that time.

The term triple-negative breast cancer means that the cancer cells do not have estrogen or progesterone receptors and does not make too much of the protein called HER2. ( therefore the cells test "negative" on all 3 tests.)

Triple-negative breast cancer has less treatment options available than other types of invasive breast cancer. The reason being the cancer cells do not have enough estrogen or progesterone receptors or HER2 protein for hormone therapy or targeted drugs to work.

Treatment options are chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery mainly. But consulting clinician on time and starting the treatment is important. Regular follow up with doctor with lifestyle modifications and counselling will help. Consult an oncologist.
