Hello, my father has detected with PT2B adenocarcinoma in Gall bladder cancer. He has undergone radical cholecystectomy. The biopsy report shows microscopic adenocarcinoma in lever with margin of resection lever as negative and lymph node negative. Is chemotherapy needed post surgery?

Answered by Dhanya Shetty

Hello, Chemotherapy is usually given after the surgery, to reduce the chances of recurring cancer. In some cases, chemo is given before the surgery to shrink the tumour; it is called neoadjuvant therapy. As you have mentioned that your father has undergone radical cholecystectomy, and you want to know if chemo is needed after the surgery. Our recommendations would be to undergo adjuvant chemotherapy. As it is suggested by various studies that, Post-operation chemotherapy is used as palliative care treatment for gallbladder cancer, as it inhibits the growth of any cancer cells remaining in the body after the removal of the tumour. Even though there are various side effects associated with receiving chemotherapy, one can increase their survival chances and diminish any chances of recurrent cancer. Hope this answer helps you. Ive always had discharge for as long as I can remember and at my 8 week postpartum checkup the doctor checked me but said it wasn’t alarming because it’s not bothering me. I am currently 4 months postpartum and noticed I was getting discharge that had a slight odour and the discharge left rashes between my thighs and it got to the point I couldn’t wear underwear because the discharge would get more and I keep getting rashes. I noticed it getting a little bit better when I stopped wearing underwear the smell was still slightly fishy but not too terrible like before but recently after sexual intercourse I bled a little. Now google says it’s either the C word or some infection. I’m aware I should go doctor right away but I’m just not able to do so , my last two screenings for cervical cancer with my Pap smear came negative it was in 2018 and 2021. What’s the reason I bled?

Female | 27

Postpartum, it is normal to discharge but rashes and odor can prove an infection. Sex-related bleeding is not normal and may indicate a problem. This is why it’s important to go and see a doctor so that they can rule out any serious conditions. Cervical cancer screenings are also significant, but they do not detect all problems. If you are experiencing symptoms, do not waste time before seeing a doctor.

I am writing for my father's treatment. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in April 2018. He had gone through 6 cycles of of Alimta and carboplatin till October and then two cylces of Alimta only till December 2018. Up to October, he was doing great, had no side effects and his tumor size went down. After that he became very fatigued and also his tumor size increased significantly. In January 2019, Doctor put him on Docetaxel and so far he is doing good with no side effect. But, we would like to continue his treatment in your reputed hospital. I have attached his initial PET scan (April 2018) and recent PET scan (January 2019) along with few other CT scan. I appreciate if you could suggest me the doctor for his treatment and help me getting the appointments. Also, it would be very helpful if you can give me idea about the expenses. Since he will be coming from Bangladesh, it will take time to get visa and arrange rest of the stuff. Currently I am in Canada and planning to join him during his initial treatment at your hospital, preferably in March.

He will have to consult medical oncologist to make a treatment plan. everything will have to be looked into in detail before advising a plan. I suggest you to continue Docetaxel until that time.

If your PSA level has risen after previous treatments for prostate cancer,Plz consult with the best oncology hospital in India or your urologist. An increase in PSA levels may indicate a recurrence or progression of the cancer. The next steps will depend on your health, the extent of the cancer, and the treatments you've already received..
